This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for this project that appeared on the African Development Bank Group’s Internet Website (www.afdb.org) 16th August, 2018.
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) has received Financing from the African Development Bank in USD towards the cost of Technology for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) program. It is intended that part of the proceeds of this grant will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for the Supply of 36,800 Litres of chemicals with proven active ingredient to control fall armyworm. The chemical is to be applied as a seed treatment for 6,000MT of Seed Maize.
IITA now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of 36,800 Litres of seed treatment chemical to control fall armyworm in Maize (6,000MT maize seeds) with recent trial data, not less than 2 years, from minimum of one (1) Southern African Country including Zambia and Zimbabwe. The eligible bidder should have registration granted or submitted / in progress in at least one (1) Southern African Countries including Zambia or Zimbabwe as required by the laws and regulations governing the registration and use of pesticides. The products would be delivered in Lusaka, Zambia.

The provisions in the Instructions to Bidders and in the General Conditions of Contract are the provisions of the African Development Bank Standard Bidding Document: Procurement of Goods or Procurement of Works.
Bids must be delivered to the office address below on or before 15th February, 2019 and must be accompanied by a bid securing declaration. The bid must remain valid for 90 days after the deadline for the submission described above.
Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at 12pm CAT on 15th February, 2019 at the offices of International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Southern Africa Research and Administration Hub (SARAH) Campus, Plot 1458B, Ngwerere Road (off Great North Road), Chongwe District 10100, Lusaka Province, Lusaka, Zambia.
