Worldfish is currently leading the implementation of CGIAR Research Program Aquatic Agricultural Systems (AAS) which aims to improve the livelihoods of those people left behind by the Green Revolution. Through an innovative, community-centered, participatory action research approach the AAS Program aspires to think differently about how agricultural research is undertaken and to be open about sharing the knowledge and learnings it gains.
The AAS Program is building its community-based research capacity and is looking for a dynamic, energetic team player for this role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the implementation of AAS communication strategy, provide technical and strategic development communication advice to program management
  • Oversee the design, generation, capture, monitoring and assessment of content for the AAS program at the hub and country level
  • Oversee the implementation of communication needs assessment and recommend interventions to address gaps and inefficiencies
  • Facilitate training on development communications, overseeing the development of training materials and identify interventions to enhance development communication capacity
  • Provide leadership and support to AAS and partner staff involved with communications and knowledge management
Skill Requirements
  • Understanding of (and training/education in) current developments in the field of communication for development theory, strategic communication planning, and evaluation of development communication interventions
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Strong analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills
  • Performs work independently in own field of specialization, and equipped with knowledge and experience of multiple communication disciplines
  • Experienced in managing staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills and recognized as a team player
  • Demonstrated management skills and proactive working style
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • A university degree in Development Communication or related fields (Social/Behavioral Sciences); relevant degree at the post graduate level strongly preferred
  • At least eight years proven experience in coordinating, overseeing, planning and implementing development communication interventions in an international setting
